Jovian Mandagie's Art Deco for Zalora

It's a Raya fashion show galore for the past two months and I have been struggling to follow an astounding list of designer collabs with notable e-tailers in Malaysia. But Jovian Mandagie's printastic, design-laden collection for Zalora's Eid 2015 is one of the shows that I managed to pay attention to. Well, who would miss the celebrated Indonesian-born designer's collection launch with all the public relations fanfare that surrounded the event?

Luna Maya, who is apparently an Indonesian soap opera and movie superstar, graced the event finale with her presence as part of a contemporary performance. Moody background music and appropriately brooding lighting and a singular enormous white ball in the middle of stage set a decidedly dramatic and dark undertone of the presentation, despite the preconceived idea of how 'joyful' Raya clothings should evoke.

When it comes to designing festivity outfits, Jovian is definitely one of the leaders of the pack with his signature peplum, mermaid dresses and the updated traditional Baju Kurung Kedah - a staple favorite of a lot of Malaysian women out there (including my younger sister, who does not really shop for clothes much). Art Deco was the overall theme of the collection. The graphic quality was evident in the lines and embellishments, and some of the colourways. Some of the looks are not necessarily new but mostly a variation and an update of Jovian's famous best selling designs...

Jovian Mandagie for Zalora collection is priced at range of RM430 to  RM600 and are available on Zalora website and Jovian Mandagie boutiques.
