Farewell Lah Lah Land

Eddie and Sun Khiew from Lah Lah Land

I was quite shocked to learn (from Instagram) that one of the most interesting independent stores in Kuala Lumpur is sadly meeting its final days of physical store appearance (they have been residing on the sixth floor of Sungei Wang Plaza for quite a while now). I have a fond memory of Lah Lah Land as one of, if not the only one shop that sells specialty vintage clothing in KL. And it was good to see them progressing into providing much needed flavour in the KL street fashion by introducing a selection of regional designers that are interesting and definitely unconventional.

Fret not, as Lah Lah Land is still in business, but they are migrating permanently to the online realm. I managed to spend some time to witness the final moments at their trippy, tinsel-fied decorated shop right before they close down at the end of this week. Moving out sale was abound and naturally there were some wallet breaking action going on...

First up are the clothing section - definitely in love with all the baggy silhouettes and kaleidoscopic prints they offer here

Little fluorescent fitting room

The accessories section is an exciting mishmash of street, the peculiar and acid

Chiyo's cuteness overload accessories going at RM10!

Demonia creepers all going off at an attractive price

Hong Kong label Inch Child's accessories that are sooo anatomically correct :)

Colorful Medium Rare Store socks

Lah Lah Land's in house brand offering metallic scalloped totes - appropriately matches my all metallic ensemble here (Post edit: The bags are actually from Singaporean-based Yesah)

Cool displays and visual merchandising ideas abound in this little hidden gem. There is no one cohesive concept but rather a wonderful mix of anime-esque playful fantasy land thrown over acid and trance...
