Brands at Actually KL

Whilst Actually KL currently focuses on laid-back street wear / up-and-coming international labels, it seems that it is not the ultimate plan for the store. I was told that they are trying to bring in more labels, especially Malaysian ones, but so far the promising designers that they are eyeing for now have either changed their base (Jonathan Liang moved to Paris recently) or is already bound with important projects (i.e. Tengku Syahmi with ULTRA). However there are a few options there that might just be a solution for the quest of local labels to be placed side by side with other international labels in Actually KL premise.

As for now, these are the labels that Actually KL have to offer...

INDEPENDENT LABELS
I believe we are already familiar with this Swedish denim-focused brand. Created by the Graah family the label is already famous around the world with online shopping giants like ASOS stocking them. Quality selvedge denim, casual plaid  / Oxfords are the main pieces which keep customers' demand high, besides the more adventurous womenswear collection.

Lazy Oaf
This UK label is a print focused label with products encompassing clothing, accessories and stationery. It seems that KL-ites have a thing for something fun and quirky, judging from the only piece of this Peekaboo sweatshirt left on the rails...

A contemporary casual wear born in New York but based in Shanghai, the designer is an Indonesian native Sean William Salim who had the interning experiencing with Tim Hamilton and Isaac Mizrahi. Backed with an interesting biography and fresh modern take on men's classics, this label I think has the potential to be the next big hit amongst modern casual wear contenders.

It is never easy to introduce a new label to a market saturated with luxury labels and high street chains like Kuala Lumpur, but here, it is a start.

A Singaporean label with innovative womenswear, bordering on fashion and art. Her standalone label is located at PARCO next NEXT, Marina Bay, Singapore.

Also a Singaporean label, focusing on menswear that I need to keep my eye on. I love this polka dot shirt with the front bib.

A diffusion line by Singapore-based Max Tan, this collection is all about fresh drapes and silhouettes in his womenswear collection.

FOOTWEAR
This Californian-based footwear brand is not new to me as I have the Comme des Garcons shirt x Generic Man pebbled leather brogues (the higher-end sister brand of GS) to make me all informed about the label. The shoes in Actually KL are surprisingly affordable (the price range is almost similar, if not cheaper, than the ones from Zara or Pedro). And of course that is one of the reasons that currently, there is only a limited quantity of GS shoes left in Actually. Unfortunately I was told that they might not bring in the label in the future due to sourcing problems!
Generic Surplus, Actually KL

There is no need for introduction for the staggeringly high heels from this wildly popular American label. I can see why female bloggers just love his shoes. I believe Actually KL is the first shop carrying this label in Malaysia. Kudos for that.

This British shoe company is also already popular among it cult followers, who are apparently abundant in numbers. Time to get all edgy with the creepers...

ACCESSORIES
The collaboration between the British designer and the Aussie sunnies company ooze that "I'm cool" vibe, and, thanks to its affordable price, have been basically flying off the shelves. I was told that Actually had to replenish their stocks THRICE since their launch!
Henry Holland x Le Specs, Actually KL

The Milan-based sunglasses company was founded in 2009. It seems that besides Japan, the only other Asian countries stocking this label are Singapore and Malaysia (in both respective Actually shops). The design looks classic with those few familiar shapes that we see nowadays. With Carl Zeiss Vision lenses, however, they will probably protect your eyes better than the average sunnies out there...
Spektre, Actually KL

This is a Japanese stationery label which purportedly invented the dated diary back in the 80's. Actually KL stocks passport holders and pochettes in a variety of striking colors, all made of plastic. We all know that Muji is opening soon in Pavilion, which means a new selection of quality Japanese stationery. But I am personally excited to see Delfonics around because of its more affordable price point, evidently...

INTIMATE WEAR
The only Malaysian label in the store, this label has been making waves in Australia and America. I'm sure there is a huge potential demographic who would wear bold striking underwear from this label (even more so with its suggestive label). But I will stick to my classic Jockey Y-fronts and Uniqlo boxer briefs nevertheless...

Needless to say this Swedish colourful socks brand has become more and more widely-known amongst KL-ites (they are stocked in MUSA as well). And to no surprise all the socks range are sold out in Actually, with only these tights left.
