Camper revolution

I've always been following Spanish footwear export Camper. In fact there were a few occurrences when I was itching to purchase Camper Together models, notably the ones from Bernhard Willhelm collab. Alas, further research revealed the company uses pig skin lining for most of the shoes. Religion versus fashion has always been a personal battle for me, but so far my stand is not to let 'frivolous' things like shoes compromise my faith and religious practice.

However, as a self-confessed shoe-holic and design enthusiast, I could not peel my eyes off of Camper's latest SS2015 campaign under the helm of recently appointed Romain Kremer. Look at all the freshness, the edginess of the campaign. Everything looks sleek and effortlessly cool - from the tone, design, make-up AND props (colour blocked post-trauma cervical collars anyone?)

Romain Kremer, Parisian based fashion designer, has been working with Camper since 2009, signing a capsule collection each season for the Camper Together project. Kremer launched his eponymous menswear line in 2006 and was head menswear designer at Mugler from 2011 to 2013.
“I am very excited by this new challenge. I feel connected to the singular philosophy and values of the brand. The process of creativity remains as free as 40 years ago, and Camper manages to keep its authenticity. A unique laboratory that combines craftsmanship and high-tech skills, in the heart of Mallorca, where everything started.” Romain Kremer
And the SS15 products are equally high-tech and futuristic looking without being too costumey. Of course there's a sense of references from other designers of this genre, but overall, I believe the young crowd would be ready to spend some extra moolah for carefully designed, durable and highly wearable footwear like this. However it's quite unfortunate that Malaysia most probably will not have a taste of the installments as they will be stocked in select CamperLab stores globally. (As this is not sad enough, there's no e-shop for Malaysian Camper shoppers as of yet as well....)

I'd like to get my hands on (with gloves, for sure, ehem) on the Spaceship range of CamperLab shoes. Everything looks current with a touch of sober futurism.

And here are past season (FW 14) shoes from Kremer's design tutelage which are equally covetable:
